Burda Pattern Magazine

Does anyone else get this? Or can I give a heads up on a great resource for plus sewers?

I've been getting Burda's european magazines on and off for a few years. I've gotten both the "Burda World of Fashion" and the "Burda PLUS Fashion". "World of Fashion" has mainly regular sized patterns, but also has a small plus collection each month. They are great magazines for intermediate and more experienced sewers. The often have 50-70 patterns inside the magazine. A years subscription (2 issues) to the plus magazine is only $15 us a year.

The magazine also has excellent tutorials on fit or finishing techniques, like how to petite size clothes, or how to work on leather. The clothes are by european designers with great lines and often a year or two ahead of "what's in" in the US.

The patterns are printed on template sheets bound in the middle of the magazine, Printed without seam allowences (which is why I do not recommend it for beginners), the rest of the magazine is sewing instruction and views of the patterns. All patterns must be traced from the multisize templates and given seam allowences, which is an extra step, but well worth it for some of the wonderful garments I've found here.

Go to their magazine section, there are links to both World of Fashion and Plus Fashion. You can see all the patterns online including a technical drawing that shows the seam lines.

If you want to buy them in the US the easiest way is though this link.

They can also be bought through Amazon.
