Help!

My friend and I want to dress as wenches for Halloween. Has anyone got a way to "fake" a corset? My sewing skills aren't up to the real thing and our budgets won't allow us to dash out and buy something. I appreciate any input!!

the easiest way to fake a corset is to get a length of cheap fabric... cut it into a corset shape... best not to make it go over the breast but just underneath .... get some grommets and put them evenly down both sides and lace it up... if you can sew a straight line you can trim it with lace or ribbon to make it interesting... you'll get the look but not the discomfort nor the expense and bother of making and wearing a real one

Oh, so just basically make the outside of the corset, no lining or boning, right? I feel silly - that never crossed my mind! Thank you!

no worries... sometimes we are too close to something to see it... my grand mother always said i couldn't see the forest for the trees... but i'm an expert at getting the look for less... and comfort is a MUST for me... i'm old and i deserve to be beautiful in a comfortable manner... lol...
