I just got a promotion and I am required to wear "business attire" but now I'm in a pickle. Any of the acceptable business-ey clothes I see at, say, the plus size section at Macys, are super expensive and the business-ey clothes I see anywhere else at, like, Lane Bryant - just sucks. It looks like I have to pull out the old sewing machine again. Any tips for me?

Re: Business Clothes
Sat, November 18, 2006 - 7:58 PMCongratulations on your promotion! You have a great sense of style (I snooped in your profile); don't lose that because you have to dress for "business". Do some vision questing for examples of what you'd like to wear (I like to keep a book of swatches and clippings) and then make some basics you can dress up. Look for a jacket pattern you like and some skirts/pants to go with. Maybe buy yourself a couple simple expensive suits that don't make you puke and make cool stuff to accessorize them. I got myself a basic suit at Macy's several years ago that I still separate out and wear. Keep it simple, but stay as cool as you are. Good luck!

Thu, August 9, 2007 - 1:27 PMBoth Blair and Coldwatercreek have good prices in their closeout section and have business clothes in large sizes. Coldwater creek has splashier designs.
Also, saf-t-pockets.com has nice patterns - their 'getting to the point' jacket will dress up most plain dresses or pants and has several hidden pockets: webstore.quiltropolis.net/store...v2.asp
